Is Kingston's Cabaret Closing

In what may be a major coup for Mayor Jim Haggerty, it has come to the attention of 20thsenatorial that the longtime Kingston Adult Entertainment club "The Cabaret" may be closing. Sources close to 20thsenatorial have said that business has taken a steep downward turn, and that may be in part due to the fierce legal battle the owner had with Mayor Jim Haggerty. The sign in front of the Cabaret (shown to the left) is blank and no vehicles were in the parking lot last evening.

Haggerty proudly declares himself a "Common Sense Conservative" in his literature and lists among his accomplishments "a legal battle against the expansion of an adult entertainment club." Haggerty is referring to his successful State and Federal Court battles when the owners of the Cabaret tried to open an "all-nude" club on Market Street, Kingston. His persistence may have paid off yet again.

Not all Kingston residents are happy. One frequent patron says he's disappointed in the closing or possible closing of the adult entertianment establishment. A Kingston resident who wishes to remain anonymous has told 20thsenatorial that he will "miss the place" if it is indeed closing. "It was a nice place to get a drink, it was close to home, and the entertainment wasn't bad, either."

The owners have also recently opened a new "all-nude" club in Plymouth Township, which may contribute to the downturn in business. Apparently the zoning laws are not that strict down the river in Plymouth Township and the township doesn't have the will or the resources to fight the good fight.

More info will follow.

Comments:
Looks to me like one more thing Haggerty has improved for his community.

Agreed. More and more I see that he is the one who really has gotten shit done.

I don't know how you give Haggerty credit if it closes. It sounds like market forces is the source of it's demise.
